LAKE...do you honestly think that an unmarried pregnant teacher is the only situation that will draw kids' to make fun of them? Must be a pretty sheltered world where you're at.

If that's what kids want to comment on and question, i'd rather it be that than the teacher coming to school hung over, track marks on their arms, and various other veneral diseases they may have contracted...but because they aren't pregnant, it's not apparent.

You're damn right that a lot of my ire in this thread is directed at what I see as narrow minded stupidity on your part, regarding this situation. And I do see myself like reason on this one.

I am a former single parent. I was pregnant at 19, and chose to remain single until my daughter was almost 7 years old. I put up with the narrow mindedness of my parents, regarding my worth as a good catholic, I put up with the self righteous uppity UNCHRISTIAN bitchy biddies in church who condemned me to hell on site for lack of a wedding band. I put up with the preists in church stating that I deserve more of a place in hell than the molestors murders, embezzlers, rapists, burglars, and lunatics out there because I fornicated.

Guess what. I still think I am worth more than my weight in gold, and quite frankly, am STILL a better influence on children than SOME people around here.

And quite frankly LAKE...I think part of this is I never would have expected such backwater ideals from you.

The teacher's job is to teach the subject they're hired to do. If the gay teacher uses the class time to rant on his personal issues, I would have a huge problem with it. Same as if the teacher would go on about pro-choice or pro-life matters in an art class. I don't want my kids' teachers trying to shove their politics down their throat.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">She forgot to mention the the church in its infantile wisdom, put on the back of Emily's Baptismal Certificate the following:
"Parents are not married at time of Baptism"

And people wonder why I don't like stepping foot inside a Catholic Church.

You were mistreated and I'm sorry for that. Those that said such awful things are not good Christians. I find this comment very hard to believe, "preists in church stating that I deserve more of a place in hell than the molestors murders, embezzlers, rapists, burglars, and lunatics out there because I fornicated." Where did you go to church? I have never in my life met people so hateful.

Call me backwater if you like, I'm far from alone in my beliefs.

And, you're reading way more into my post than what's there. I am not responsible for your bitterness.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">St. Martin of Tours is our parish. And yes, Lake, those comments were said in church, during the homily. How much more hypocritical can you get.

I believe Ohio is a "right to work" state. An employer can fire anyone for any reason. For the record, I think firing someone based on their sexual orientation is wrong. Goes both ways.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Not much! That was awful. We're supposed to love one another. My current pastor founded a group for gay Catholics. Everyone is welcome at our church.

As in all groups, there are good and bad people.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Believe it or not...I make the distinciton between the ideals being back water, and the person. Hence...why I would be so surprised that aperson I would not think of as "backwater" , would have these ideas. (along the same line as telling a child that what they have done is bad...not that they are bad.)

Nope...you are not responsible for my bitterness. But those things were said and done, and now, in dealing with it in another forum...you get to experiance the bitterness.
